A standard bathroom renovation takes around three weeks from start to finish, working Monday to Friday. That covers the full process: demolition and strip-out on the front end, then waterproofing, tiling, plumbing, electrical, and installation of all your fixtures and fittings through the middle weeks, and a final clean-up so the space is ready to use when we hand it back to you. Three weeks is a realistic timeframe for a properly done job. We do not rush through waterproofing or tiling to shave a few days off the schedule, because that is exactly where problems show up six months later. We will confirm the timeline during your quote and keep you updated throughout the build so you always know where things are at.

A full strip-out means everything comes out. Tiles, floor coverings, vanity, toilet, bath, shower screen, and in many cases the wall linings behind them too. We do this when waterproofing has failed, when the layout needs to change, or when there are too many layers of old work hiding problems underneath. It sounds like a big job because it is, but it also means we can start fresh and do everything properly from the ground up with no shortcuts buried behind the walls.

In most cases, no. Standard bathroom renovations that do not involve structural changes or moving walls generally do not require council approval in Brisbane. However if you are adding a bathroom to a space that has never had one, or making changes that affect the structure of the home, that is something we will flag during the quote and advise you on before any work starts. You deal with us, not five separate tradies who do not talk to each other or show up on the wrong days. Every person on your job is licensed and experienced, and we manage the schedule so the work flows in the right order and nothing sits idle waiting for the next trade to arrive.

A good rule of thumb is this: if the waterproofing is more than 15 to 20 years old, if there are cracked or lifting tiles, if you can smell dampness behind the walls, or if the layout genuinely does not work for how you live, a proper renovation is the right call. Every bathroom we renovate is waterproofed to AS 3740, the Australian Standard for wet area waterproofing. This protects your home and your investment long after the job is finished, and it is a non-negotiable part of how we work regardless of the size or budget of the project.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you call us. A lot of our customers come to us with a rough idea of what they want and we help them work through the details from there. We can advise on tile selections, fixture choices, layout options, and what works well in the size of space you have. If you already know exactly what you want, that works too. We are happy to work either way.

For most standard bathroom renovations, you do not need to move out. If you have a second bathroom in the home you can use while the work is happening, day to day life carries on pretty normally. If you only have one bathroom, it is worth having a conversation with us before the job starts so we can plan the schedule in a way that minimises the time you are without a working bathroom. Some of our customers hire a portaloo for the duration of the job, which is a practical and affordable solution that a lot of people do not think of straight away. We are used to working in occupied homes and we treat your property with respect throughout the process.
